Although beholder.co.uk launched in 1995, "Beholder" probably first appeared on the internet in 1985, because that was my process name on the VAXen, way back when Pete and I were, er, exploring JANet. In those days you have no idea how exciting it was to see somebody else's typing coming up on your screen from exotic places as far away as, say, Lancaster. Oh, and CERN of course ... but I expect they've tightened up their passwords since then.
